| Conservation of a 19th
century eagle lectern by Michael Czajkowski, the present owner of the firm, Edmund Czajkowski & Son
Ltd.
The base had rotted and was badly wormed. It was re-glued
with water resistant glue and impregnated with resin to consolidate
the weakened areas.
It was then treated for infestation and
finished with a wax containing fungicide for future protection.
Conservation and restoration of church furniture is an
important part of our business. We have all the necessary
skills for timber consolidation, carving and gilding.
Michael Czajkowski, is an accredited conservator with the Institute
of Conservation (ICON), registered with the Museums’ Conservation
register, and a member of the British
Antique Furniture Restorers’ Association (B.A.F.R.A.).
This ensures that the best principles of conservation practice
are adhered to.
